Leyla Atoi from Afghanistan left her country with her husband and three children because of insecurity and fights inside the family. Her journey was very painful because she was several months pregnant when she left her country and is just about to give birth to her fourth child.

During their journey the family gave most of their saving to the smuggled in order to reach Turkey. From there they were smuggled in a boat to Greece, and after they continued their journey to Serbia and Croatia. They spent one month in Slavonski Brod WRTC.

They applied for asylum in Croatia and they hope they will be given a chance to re-build their life in Croatia. They like Croatian people and find them very friendly. The family plans to start with the language course and learn more about Croatian culture.

IOM provides support in delivering language courses and creative workshops for women. She would also appreciate the provision of clothes and hygiene items for the newborn baby.
