SBTV Pressing paid attention to the pilot project “Providing Refugee Resettlement Assistance to the Government of the Republic of Croatia”

Mr. Ivan Piteša, IOM coordinator of the pilot project “Providing Refugee Resettlement Assistance to the Government of the Republic of Croatia” was the guest on local SBTV talk show, due to the recent resettlement of 3 Syrian families to Slavonski Brod.  He presented the whole project in general and explained what kind of the assistance IOM provides regarding the movement and integration of Syrian refugees in to the local community.

He stated that, as it was successfully done in the case of the first group of 40 Syrian refugees, which was moved to Zadar arriving in November 2017 as part of the project, IOM’s assistance continues also for the second group of 41 refugees which arrived to Croatia on January this year.

Precisely, 3 Syrian families were moved to Slavonski Brod, one family of 10 and one of 4 as also a young pregnant woman and her husband.

Also, one family of 4 was moved to Zagreb and one Syrian found a new home in nearby Zaprešić.

 IOM started providing assistance to meet their needs regarding the rights and obligations they have as the new members of local communities.  Integration process includes IOM assistance which will help them obtaining of their social, health care, educational and employment rights along with the other needs and obligations.

IOM continues implementing capacity building, as well as networking and partnership building activities with national and local stakeholders in the interest of a sustainable resettlement programme as well as the integration of all planned 150 Syrian refugees.
