First National workshop of the European Migration Network National Contact Point (EMN NCP) for Croatia – 30-31 May 2016
The first National workshop of the European Migration Network National Contact Point (EMN NCP) for Croatia took place in Fažana, Croatia, from 30 May-31 May 2016 (Venue: MUP Resort Valbandon).
The overall purpose of the workshop was to generate ideas that will give the structure of the National Migration Network.
Specific aims of the workshop were to introduce the work of the European Migration Network, discuss the migration approaches in Europe and to facilitate and enhance national dialogue on migration.
The workshop gathered 13 participants and experts from the governmental bodies and NGOs. The event was opened by Ms. Tatjana Radošević who made an introduction on goals and objectives of the EMN. Ms. Nermina Komarić, National Coordinator of EMN NCP provided an overview of main outcomes and progress made. The role of the Ministry of the Interior in EMN NCP for Croatia was presented by Ms. Ana Šutalo, Directorate for Foreigners and Asylum, Ministry of Interior.
Other presentations focused on: “Work of Centre for Piece Studies in the migration field” presented by Ms. Vanja Bakalović, Centre for Piece Studies; a presentation on the Asylees Coordination by Ms. Tatjana Holjevac, Croatian Law Centre and a presentation on the Croatia Red Cross activities against Trafficking in Human beings by Ms. Elsa Damijanić, Croatian Red Cross Reginal director.
At the end of the two half a day workshop the participants agreed on action measures that should contribute to the adequate establishment of the national migration network, such as:
- Analysis of the existing committees, intersectoral working groups or similar bodies working on the policies or strategies related to the migration filed at the national level. The analysis should be compiled by the HR EMN NCP
- HR EMN NCP to organise the next national workshop in October 2016 with the focus on presenting the 2017-2018 EMN Work Plan
- HR EMN NCP to disseminate EMN inform, EMN Bulletin and Country factsheet to a wider range of stakeholders on a regular basis
